Tri-State Iron & Metal received unanimous approval by the Texarkana, Ark., Planning Commission Oct. 11 to have its property rezoned to M-2 Heavy Industrial. The vote, 7-0 in favor of Tri-State Iron, paves the way for the scrap recycler to install an auto shredder on its property.
According to Howard Glick, owner of Tri-State, the company hopes to have a Harris 3,000 hp auto shredder installed and operational by next August.
Glick says that by rezoning the company will be able to locate the auto shredder as far away from residential homes as possible.
According to local press reports the planning commission also approved three Tri-State Iron & Metal petitions concerning right-of-way abandonment.
