The awards, presented by Bobby Fanning of Walmart on behalf of the ARC’s awards committee, went to the following organizations in the following categories:
• Corporate Recycler of the Year: General Dynamics – Armament and Technical Products, Hampden, Ark. The plant has achieved a landfill diversion rate of more than 90 percent.
• Recycling Education Program of the Year: Wooster Elementary School, Greenbrier, Ark.
• School Recycler of the Year (2 winners): George Elementary School, Springdale, Ark.; and Van Buren School District and its JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps) program, Van Buren, Ark.
• College/University Recycler of the Year: University of Arkansas’ Razorback Recycling Facility, Fayetteville, Ark.
• Community Involvement Award: Goodwill Industries of Arkansas, Little Rock, Ark.
The Arkansas Recycling Coalition’s 21st Annual Conference & Trade Show was Sept. 19-21 in Eureka Springs, Ark.
