ARI Technologies, Inc. Signs Deal to Conduct Asbestos Destruction Demonstration

Company is partnering with Japanese firms on project.

ARI Technologies, Inc., Kent, Wash., signed an agreement with a Japanese group to conduct an asbestos destruction and recycling demonstration. The project will operate within the guidelines established by the Japanese Ministry of Environment. It will take place this summer, and will use ARI’s Thermochemical Conversion Technology facility in Tacoma, Wash.

Japanese partners in the project will include a Japanese steel manufacturer and a general contractor, among other companies.

ARI Japan Corp., a joint venture, has taken the role in promoting the TCCT asbestos recycling business in Japan. The Washington Department of Trade and Economic Development and the Japan External Trade Organization have also helped on putting together the project.

The Japanese Consortium intends to begin operating its first commercial asbestos processing facility in Japan by next September with additional plants to follow soon thereafter.
