Appliance Recycling Centers of America Inc. (ARCA), based in Minneapolis, has announced that its contract with Xcel Energy, also based in Minneapolis, to provide refrigerator recycling services for the utility's residential electric customers in Colorado, Minnesota and New Mexico has been extended through Dec. 31, 2011.
Through the program, Xcel Energy customers in Colorado, Minnesota or New Mexico who turn in an old, operating secondary refrigerator are eligible to receive an incentive check. Colorado and New Mexico residents are eligible for a $50 incentive, while Minnesota residents are eligible for a $35 incentive.
Edward Cameron, ARCA president and CEO, says, "We have enjoyed providing turnkey appliance recycling services for Xcel Energy and are extremely pleased that the program was extended into 2011. Together with Xcel Energy, we will continue to help reduce residential electricity demand, lower customers' energy bills and provide public environmental benefits in Colorado, Minnesota and New Mexico."
