Alameda, California-based Aqua Metals has announced that Mark Stevenson has been nominated to join the company’s board. He is an industry veteran who can bring a wealth of experience to the company, according to Aqua Metals, having worked throughout the industry in areas that include lead mining, energy storage and lead-acid battery recycling.
“Aqua Metals is doing something truly unique here,” Stevenson says. “The industry has long been looking for ways to improve sustainability. This is becoming an especially pressing issue as more energy storage comes online. We are looking at an exciting future for lead-acid battery use, and I believe Aqua Metals is poised to make it an economically and environmentally sustainable one.”
Stevenson is currently the technical director at Global Lead Technologies and nonexecutive director at Metallic Waste Solutions, headquartered in Australia. He also is the chairman of Asian Battery Conference and the International Secondary Lead Conference.
“Having Mark join our board is a significant step in our corporate development,” says Dr. Stephen R. Clarke, chairman and CEO of Aqua Metals. “He not only brings to the table incredible experience in the lead and battery industries but also a remarkable international perspective on the evolution of battery manufacturing and recycling. We are pleased to have his advice and expertise in our corner as we move forward into 2017.”
Aqua Metals recently announced its production of the first-ever AquaRefined lead at its flagship AquaRefinery in McCarran, Nevada. AquaRefining is a water-based, room-temperature process for lead recycling.
