AQSIQ Further Extends Registration Deadline

According to Notice 75-2004, applications must be postmarked or received by the AQSIQ on or before Aug. 1, 2004. AQSIQ will not accept applications after that date, as noted in a release from the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc., Washington.

ISRI and the Bureau of International Recycling, Brussels, have been in talks with the AQSIQ concerning ambiguities in the registration process, urging an extension of the deadline.  

The notice also announces an extension of the date of acceptance for unregistered overseas shipments from bills of lading dated prior to Sept. 1 to bills of lading dated prior to Nov. 1, 2004.

ISRI reports that the full text of Notice 75-2004 is posted in the members-only section of its Web site at www.isri.org. In addition to the notice, ISRI has posted a checklist of the required documents needed in order to make application to the Chinese government. The checklist was provided to ISRI and the BIR by a representative of the Chinese nonferrous industry association, which is assisting exporters in correctly submitting applications to the AQSIQ.
