The Association of Postconsumer Plastic Recyclers (APR), has re-elected Scott Saunders, general manager of Troy, Alabama-based KW Plastics Recycling Division, as the association’s chairman. The elections were held during the APR’s annual meeting in San Diego.
In addition to Saunders, the APR re-elected Ben McElrath of Marglen Industries to the board. The association also elected three new members to serve on its board: Jaime Camara of PetStar, Jon Stephens of Avangard Innovative and Mike Westerfield of Dart Container Corp. Each board member will serve a three-year term.
“As the APR continues to grow, the responsibility of board members becomes more critical to the industry,” says Steve Alexander, APR executive director. “The board of directors guides the organization to address the issues that recyclers face on a daily basis.”
Officials serving on the group’s existing board include Bill O’Grady of Talco Plastics, Tom Emmerich of Schupan Recycling, Maite Quinn of Sims Municipal Recycling, Nicole Janssen of Denton Plastics, Byron Geiger of Custom Polymers PET and Mitch Rackovan of Avery Dennison.
“I look forward to working with the new board members as we build upon the efforts of APR to address issues affecting the entire plastics recycling industry,” Saunders says. “This board represents the broad array of traditional markets for reclamation, as well as those from emerging markets. As plastics recycling grows, APR must continue to expand to address issues of innovation, quality and supply."
