Thalheimer Brothers, a Philadelphia-based nonferrous scrap metal recycling company, has acquired Baltimore-based Ansam Metals, a broker and processor of cupro-nickels, monels, brass mill specialty items and other nonferrous metals.
Following the acquisition, Ansam will operate as a division within Thalheimer and maintain operations from its Baltimore location.
“Ansam is a leading recycler of cupro-nickels and monels with an unparalleled reputation in the industry built over the last 40 years,” says Rich Reiner, CEO of Thalheimer. “We look forward to working with Ben Zager and his team to continue to drive growth in those metals throughout the world.”
Ben Zager, president of Ansam, says, “We look forward to partnering with the team at Thalheimer to continue to make Ansam the best source for cupro-nickel and monel products. I’m excited to work with Rich and his team to expand the products that Ansam can process.”
Thalheimer, which has been in operation since 1939, handles brass, copper, nickel alloy and stainless steel. The company processes mixed loads of alloyed and nonalloyed scrap to produce what it calls complex blends with specific chemical properties.
