Caraustar Industries and Sonoco Products both announced plans to raise prices for some product lines. The announcement by both companies follows announcements earlier this month on raising prices for a number of finished products.
Caraustar announced that it is increasing pricing across its entire line of paperboard tubes, cores and other specialty products by 8 percent. The increase will take effect with shipments on April 21.
The company announced a $50 a ton increase on all uncoated paperboard grades and a minimum of $40 a ton increase on clay coated paperboard grades March 7. That price increase will take effect April 7.
Sonoco Products announced that it is raising prices for its paper-based engineered carriers (tubes and cores) and specialty products by 8 percent in North America. The price increase will take effect April 1.
Sonoco, headquartered in Hartsville, SC, announced plans to raise prices on uncoated recycled paperboard by $50 per ton, effective the end of this month.
