Annaco, one of Akron, Ohio’s largest scrap processors, is again celebrating Earth Day by paying generously for aluminum used beverage containers (UBCs) as a way to increase the recycling of beverage cans.
Annaco is paying 70 cents per pound for aluminum cans, which it describes as “way over and above [the] current market and the highest Earth Week price ever paid.” The price is in effect the week of April 17 to April 22. Annaco will also provide free snacks and refreshments to its customers during the Earth Week promotion.
“Earth Day is important because it asks us to reflect on the importance of the Earth’s natural resources to maintaining a quality life, now and for future generations,” the company states in a news release.
“Annaco is a proud member of the scrap recycling industry, which supports Earth Day every day by recycling more than 200 billion pounds of usable commodities each year,” the company’s release also states.
The company has been conducting its Earth Day UBC collection promotion since the early 1990s.
