As Earth Day nears, it's time once again to reflect on the impact we as a society and as individuals have on Earth's resources and to commit to leading more environmentally conscious lives.
Ginny Busch, conservation ambassador for Anheuser-Busch, recommends the
following tips to help individuals protect the environment.
- Recycle aluminum, glass and paper.
- Don't litter and pick it up whenever you see it.
- When shopping, look for items with the recycle symbol, which indicates that the materials used in the packaging can be recycled.
- Landscape your yard with trees and shrubs to help stabilize the soil and minimize erosion.
- Help your school, workplace and community establish recycling programs and cleanup events.
- Conserve water by not leaving the faucet running when doing things like brushing your teeth or shaving.
- Conserve energy around your home, school and office by using energy-efficient lights and appliances.
- Compost yard or food waste. Compost can improve soil quality and texture and can be used as mulch.
To celebrate Earth Day, Anheuser-Busch and its more than 70 facilities
nationwide are teaming up with Keep America Beautiful affiliates to host a
company-wide Green Week April 18-22. As part of the event, employees will
participate in a number of activities, including a tree planting event and a litter cleanup.
Anheuser-Busch says it is the world's largest recycler of aluminum beverage
containers. The company also supports a variety of community-
level and national environmental organizations, such as the National Fish and
Wildlife Foundation, Keep America Beautiful and the World Wildlife Fund.
