
Colleagues, friends a family are saddened to learn of the death of Angelo Ponte of Old Tappan, New Jersey. Ponte, 93, passed away Dec. 12.
Ponte was born in Brooklyn, New York, and moved with his family to Alpine, New Jersey, where he resided for the past 40 years and became a successful entrepreneur.
With his three brothers, Ponte started a family business, V. Ponte & Sons, which became the largest trash hauler in New York City.
Ponte is survived by his wife, children, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Beyond his success as a businessman and a devoted family man, Ponte was also a humanitarian and known for charitable work throughout New York City.
A viewing will be held Friday at Barrett Funeral Home following mass and burial Saturday, Dec. 15, at Madonna Chapel on the Hill, New Jersey.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Ponte to the Bowery Mission or to the or to the Dementia Society of America.
