The equipment company Andritz MeWa has announced that its recycling machines are being fully re-engineered. The company adds that the product development will be focused on its UG granulator series, which comprises the UG 600, UG 1000, UG 1600 and UG 2000 sizes.
In addition to a redesign, the granulators also have been developed technically. For example, the entire granulator series has been fitted with a pendulum-type compactor that feeds the material to the cutter more efficiently and with less risk of faults, according to the company, providing more uniform and higher throughput. At the same time, less strain is placed on the equipment’s cutter and the blades, which results in less wear. Some machines in sizes 1600 and 2000 were already fitted with pendulum pushers in recent years.
As a next step, the company says that product development defined different technical features for specific applications for each machine size, making them suitable for a range of processing applications.
The granulator series was manufactured at Andritz’s headquarters in Gras, Austria. The assembly bays in manufacturing operations cover around 9,000 square meters (97,000 square feet). In addition to the new Andritz MeWa shredders, a number of other products from Andritz Group’s different business areas are produced at the site.
Andritz MeWa says that to streamline its purchase orders worldwide it also can access numerous production locations in various destination countries.
The granulator series is not the only machine series to profit from a redesign. All other proven Andritz MeWa machines for pre- and post-shredding, such as the rotary shear, cutting mill and UNI-CUT QZ, are scheduled to undergo improvements.
Gechingen, Germany-based Andritz MeWa is a part of the Andritz Group, Graz, Austria. The company has been developing and building shredding and crushing machines as well as turnkey recycling plants for many different applications for more than 30 years.
