The Sofitel London St. James hotel will serve as the host of CRU’s World Aluminium Conference 2020, April 20-21. Several weeks prior to that, Fastmarkets AMM is hosting International Copper 2020 Feb. 26-28 at the NH Collection Barbizon Palace hotel in Amsterdam.
The late February meeting is Amsterdam is the 33rd edition of the red metals event, according to Fastmarkets, which describes it as “the only conference that brings together the entire copper value chain in Europe.”
The London Metal Exchange (LME) and recycled-content copper producer Aurubis are among the sponsors of the event. Scheduled speakers include representatives from metals recycling firm EMR Ltd., from scrap consuming copper producers Aurubis, based in Germany, and La Farga, based in Spain. All of those firms also have operations in North America.
Other speakers on the roster are from the LME, the International Copper Study Group, metals information firm Roskill, mining company Freeport McMoran and from China-based copper producer Jiangxi Copper Co. Ltd.

The CRU April event in London is billed as the 25th version of the aluminum conference, which London-based CRU describes as providing “insight on supply, demand, price, premiums, sustainability and costs for the benefit of a highly influential audience from the global aluminum industry.”
The roster of speakers includes representatives from Hindalco, China Hongqiao Group Ltd., Novelis Europe, Rio Tinto, EMR Ltd. and from the newly formed Alvance division of GFG Alliance.
