AMG Buys Midwest Steel & Alloy

Deal gives AMG facility in Youngstown, Ohio, plus two office locations.

AMG Resources Corp., Pittsburgh, has acquired Midwest Steel & Alloy Inc., a Cleveland-based company that operates a recycling facility in Youngstown, Ohio.

Midwest specializes in railcar dismantling, railcar parts reclamation, mill roll processing and heavy burning. The company’s 50-acre facility in Youngstown is serviced by two major railroads, CSX and Norfolk Southern. It also operates commercial offices in Cleveland and in Yorkville, Ill.

“Based on the people, products, location and customer base, Midwest Steel & Alloy will be a great complement to AMG’s existing business,” says Don Forlani, AMG’s senior vice president. “The acquisition provides AMG with a platform for growth in a key market area and enables AMG to expand into new product lines.”

Bob Wallens, who served as president of Midwest Steel & Alloy, has joined AMG and will continue to lead what will now be known as Midwest Steel & Alloy, a division of AMG.

“The Midwest team is very excited to join AMG, which over the years has demonstrated a commitment to growth and built a reputation for strong customer service,” says Wallens.

With the Midwest acquisition, AMG now operates 14 facilities in the United States and the United Kingdom plus 14 brokerage offices.
