Mayer Information Technology Inc., Markham, Ontario, Canada, is installing steel mill management software for AmeriSteel Corp., Tampa Fla.
The Florida steelmaker purchased Mayer’s S2 software to help manage its raw material business, which consists predominantly of ferrous scrap. The system is being installed at AmeriSteel’s Tampa headquarters and will offer remote access to operations at the five AmeriSteel mills in Charlotte N.C.; Jacksonville Fla.; Cartersville, Ga.; Knoxville Tenn., and Jackson Tenn.
AmeriSteel will also use Mayer’s Scale Manager software for local scale operations and Polling Manager software to synchronize scale information with headquarters, according to a Mayer Information Technology news release.
“Easy access to reliable and timely information is a critical factor not only in day to day operations but to provide the information needed to make strategic and cost effective decisions for the future,” says Vicki Roche, AmeriSteel’s director of raw materials. “We believe Mayer [software] will allow us to achieve this objective.”
Says Mayer’s sales and marketing vice president Jay Martz, “We are very excited with this partnership and working very closely with AmeriSteel in developing our product line by providing first class mill management solutions.”
AmeriSteel, is majority owned by Brazilian steelmaker Gerdau S.A., and operates five steel mini-mills and 19 downstream processing operations producing finished steel products for use in construction and industrial markets.
Mayer Information Technology designs management software and e-commerce solutions for scrap recyclers and steel mills throughout the world.
