Aluminum Scrap is Subject of Event

The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc. (ISRI), Washington, and The Aluminum Association, Washington, are co-sponsoring “All About Aluminum: A Consumer/Processor Dialogue,” taking place Friday, October 19 in suburban Chicago.

The two-and-a-half hour dialogue session will feature speakers from both the scrap processing and scrap consuming sectors of the industry, including some from the smelter and ingot side of the business and others from the sheet aluminum side.

Speakers lined up for the first half of the dialogue are Dennis Crooker of Alcoa, Jane Waldemar of Alcan, Gary DuMont of Nichols Aluminum, Jerry Zeffren of Commercial Metals and Steven Craver, Newco Metals.

The second half of the dialogue will include remarks from Stu Cohn of Behr Metals, Irv Becker of TIMC, Tom Lobel of House of Metals and Steve Nedelman of Philip Metals Inc.

Topics to be discussed by the panelists—and audience members as well—will include quality standards, delivery services and other aspects of the aluminum recycling business.

The dialogue is taking place the day after the traditional ISRI Commodities Roundtable Sessions on Copper, Aluminum, Ferrous Scrap and other secondary commodities.

It is ISRI’s first attempt at an aluminum scrap dialogue, though the group conducted a ferrous scrap processors and consumers dialogue last fall in Pittsburgh.

The Roundtables and Dialogue are taking place at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Rosemont, Ill.
