Tim Calvin, director of sales and marketing, billet and rod, for Franklin, Tenn.-based Noranda Aluminum and chairman of the association’s statistical and market research committee, says, “Ryan brings strong experience to the Aluminum Association’s business information and statistics program. I am looking forward to working with him on the association’s highly valued statistical programs.”
As vice president, Olsen will direct the association’s North American aluminum industry statistical and business information programs, which provide vital market insight, the Aluminum Association says. As the principle source for statistics on the North American aluminum industry, the association publishes a number of reports covering every segment of the market. Olsen also will be responsible for the association’s surveys and data publications, key committee assignments as well as serve on the association’s senior leadership team.
“Ryan’s background in capturing and analyzing complex industry statistical information and communication skills will be beneficial to our members and policy stakeholders,” Brock says. “I’m looking forward to working closely with Ryan to increase the aluminum industry’s profile—with $152 billion in direct and indirect economic output, and 672,000 direct and indirect jobs, we have a very compelling story.”
Prior to joining the Aluminum Association, Olsen served as a senior data analyst and economist in the Maritime Administration within the Department of Transportation.
