Alter Trading Corp. announced the acquisition of the scrap metal recycling business of Max Phillips & Son, Inc. The deal was completed Feb. 1.
Max Phillips has its main facility in Eau Claire, Wisc., with a smaller ancillary facility in Marshfield, Wis.
Max Phillips has been the leading processor of ferrous and nonferrous scrap and new steel in Eau Claire and Marshfield. The company is a full service scrap recycler, handing both industrial accounts and street traffic. The acquired company’s main facility has roughly 20 employees, while the smaller yard has a handful of employees.
The acquisition will benefit Alter, which has two yards fairly close to the Eau Claire plants: one in St. Paul, Minn., the other in LaCrosse, Wis.
“The Max Phillips operation complements our existing scrap metal markets and fits into our growth strategy,” said Robert Goldstein, CEO and president. “Our goal at Alter is to be able to supply our customers with additional volume to meet their growing needs.”
