Alter Trading Corp., headquartered in St. Louis, has purchased the operating assets of Martin Bros. Recycling, based in Mississippi, adding an automobile shredding and nonferrous processing facility in Sardis and three full-service recycling centers located in Clarksdale, Byhalia and Nesbit. The transaction closed Feb. 16.
“We have been friendly with Henry Martin for many years, and we are excited to bring these companies together with Alter,” Alter CEO Jay Robinovitz says. “We are looking forward to continuing to serve our new customers and providing our recycling services to the businesses and citizens of the northern Mississippi region. We are also pleased that Henry Martin and his management team will become a welcomed part of our Alter team.”
According to Alter, the acquisition plays an integral role in its plan to be the first-choice provider of raw material to the largest steel-producing regions in the country.
Alter, an ISO 9001 and 14001 certified company, has 1,600 employees and operates 67 metal recycling facilities and five trading offices in nine states, along with a sales office in Singapore.
