Allied Metal Co., a leading smelter of zinc and aluminum alloys, has announced that its quality management system is now compliant with International Organization for Standardization (ISO 9001:2000).
A certificate of compliance was recently issued to Allied Metal by QMI of Cleveland, Ohio, and is valid for three years. The certification replaces a previous ISO 9002 registration.
According to a news release from Allied Metal, ISO compliance represents the company's voluntary agreement to adhere to internationally-recognized standards of quality management practices. The approval process involves a rigorous independent audit.
“By meeting the strict standards of ISO 9001:2000, our corporate commitment to provide the highest quality products and services concerning the smelting and production of aluminum and zinc alloys in ingot, sow and molten forms,” says David Fink, president of Allied Metal.
Since 1953, Allied Metal has supplied die-casting and foundry operations that serve the appliance, automotive, electronics, furniture, hardware, housewares, sporting goods and toy industries.
“As we plan for our future, ISO certification is a necessary part of conducting business and demonstrating our ongoing commitment to quality in meeting customers’ production needs,” says Michael Gilford, Allied Metal’s vice president of sales.
