ALFED to Co-Host International Aluminium Recycling Conference in China

CRRA/ALFED Aluminium Recycling Conference slated for May 9-12.

The Aluminium Federation (ALFED) has announced that it will co-host and jointly organize an International Aluminum Recycling Conference in China, in conjunction with the China National Resources Recycling Association (CRRA).

The Conference will be held from May 9-12 at the Intercontinental Hotel, Foshan, near Guangzhou, in Southern China.

“This Conference is an exciting and challenging new initiative for ALFED,” says Will Savage, chief executive. “A major objective is to build a good and long-term co-operative relationship between CRRA and ALFED and to achieve mutual members’ communication.”

In previous years the CRRA has held recycling conferences in different regions of China and wishes to strengthen the aluminum content of its events, which in the past have covered non-ferrous metals, plastics, and paper recycling.

The CRRA/ALFED Aluminium Recycling Conference will take place immediately before CRRA’s existing China International Recycling Conference.

The CRRA/ALFED Aluminium Recycling Conference will include technical and commercial presentations by Chinese and Western presenters. European speakers already confirmed include Mark White, chief technical specialist, Body Engineering of Jaguar Land Rover; Günter Kirchner, secretary general of the Organisation of the European Aluminium Recycling Industry (OEA) and Zhongyun Fan, professor of Brunel University.

The Conference will also include a day of optional industrial plant visits, evening banquets and a social program for partners.

The Conference fee for Western delegates is $1,100, with a discount price of $950 for early booking.

The first day of the Conference will have a commercial theme, with market overview and views from key recyclers and metal traders. A banquet will be held in the evening, followed by Chinese traditional entertainment.

The second day will have a more technical theme, with sessions on melting, control and process development, product recycling developments, plus environmental and health and safety issues.
