The aluminum firm Aleris, headquartered in Cleveland, has acquired the cast house of Voerde Aluminum GmbH, Germany.
The Voerde cast house gives Aleris an additional annual casting capacity of 115,000 tons per year. Aleris says the acquisition it will give it increased manufacturing flexibility and additional finishing and recycling capability.
The Voerde cast house has supplied rolling ingot and billet to Aleris for a number of years.
Aleris says the cast house provides it the flexibility to continue to develop and deliver high value-added proprietary alloys for its customers\ and further enhances the company’s recycling and sustainability efforts. Roeland Baan, Aleris executive vice president and CEO, Global Rolled & Extruded Products, says. "It also assures that we will have an uninterrupted supply of product to meet increasing customer demand."
