Alcan has announced plans to build an aluminum waste recycling plant in the Saguenay area of Quebec. The cost of the project is $150 million.
Construction is expected to be complete by 2007.
Bechtel Canada has been hired to do engineering and construction work on the project.
Environment officials said that Alcan has been storing hazardous waste in a separate area for years because there are no aluminum-waste recycling facilities in Canada.
