Employees from Alcan's Cleveland offices will be collecting used aluminum beverage cans for recycling at the Great Lakes Science Center.
The collection is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 16, as part of a full day of educational awareness activities in support of Alcan Aluminum's America Recycles Day Celebration. Proceeds from the collection will be donated to the Aluminum Cans Build Habitat for Humanity Homes program to build homes in Greater Cleveland.
America Recycles Day is a national effort focused on creating and maintaining awareness for recycling and its benefits. Area companies that produce goods from recycled materials, local solid waste districts and several environmental organizations will have displays at the Science Center with sample products, information and hands-on activities.
The Science Center will open its doors at 9:30 a.m. with America Recycles Day activities running from 10:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. Activities in the Gund Wintergarden are open to the public at no charge. Activities located in the exhibit areas require a Science Center admission ticket. The Science Center is located at 601 Erieside Ave.
