Mexico-based Alcamare International Group has joined NextLoopp Americas for its food-grade polypropylene (FGrPP) project.
On June 5, NextLoopp, a global project by Nextek Ltd., London, had its inaugural launch in North and South America. Since then, NextLoopp Americas has aimed to build on the success of the European project with a goal of closing the loop on FGrPP.
“Alcamare is the first North American recycler stepping forward to partner with NextLoopp Americas, and that’s not just symbolic, it’s catalytic,” NextLoopp Americas President Edward Kosior says. “Their commitment enables us to transform our roadmap into tangible, scalable closed-loop solutions for polypropylene.”

NextLoopp Americas says it has been mobilizing stakeholders across the packaging and plastics value chain, including recyclers, converters, brand owners and recycling equipment providers. The project’s goal is to establish the infrastructure, technologies and regulatory pathways needed for safe, scalable recycling of FGrPP via its proprietary PPristine resin process.
“Our aim is to give recyclers confidence — technical, regulatory and commercial — to turn recycled [polypropylene] back into food-contact packaging safely,” NextLoopp Americas Vice President Marcio Amazonas says. “Alcamare’s participation shows that transformation is already underway.”
Using artificial intelligence-powered sorting, decontamination and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) compliance pathways, NextLoopp helps organizations produce food-safe, high-quality recycled polypropylene. The program supports participants in exceeding current Letter of No Objection standards, enabling the production of food-grade resins approved for direct food-contact across all FDA Conditions of Use (A–H).
“We look forward to a great collaboration with our new partners with the expectation of expanding our capacity and reaching new markets for our products,” Ruben Valdez, industrial director of Alcamare, says.
