A merger of three scrap recycling firms located in Albuquerque, N.M., has been finalized, with plans also including the purchase of a new 98/104 4000 hp shredding plant from Metso Texas Shredder, San Antonio.
Albuquerque Metals Recycling and Acme Iron & Metal have merged with Ace Metals Inc. to form what the combined companies are calling the largest scrap metal processor in the state of New Mexico.
The shredding plant being installed will feature a ferrous and nonferrous downstream system with magnetic separation equipment from SGM Magnetics Corp., Sarasota, Fla., and sensor sorting technology from Steinert U.S., Erlanger, Ky. Installation is scheduled for summer 2011, according to a news release issued by an advertising agency representing Metso Texas Shredder.
According to earlier published reports, the decision to merge and add a shredder follows the recent decisions by two larger companies – Western Metals Recycling, an affiliate of David J. Joseph; and American Iron & Metal – to both enter the Albuquerque scrap metal market.
Further, both companies have announced plans to install large shredders in Albuquerque. The report notes that American Iron & Metal is purchasing a Metso Texas Shredder 100x116 mega shredder for installation 20 miles south of Albuquerque under the name Pueblo Metals Recycling.
