Recycling company Alba Group, Germany, has signed a cooperation agreement to build and operate a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) recycling plant in Japan with the Japan-based waste management company Seiu Japan Ltd. It will be the first Alba facility in Japan.
According to Alba, the recycling facility, to be built in the Tokyo metroplitan area, will process 35,000 metric tons of PET per year and will be operational by 2020.
Axel Schweitzer, Alba Group CEO, says, “The joint venture aims to combine the strength of Japan's leading private waste management company with Alba’s leading recycling technology.
“As an advanced industrialized country with an active environmental policy, Japan is a very interesting market for us,” he continues.
