The ALBA Group, headquartered in Berlin, Germany, has received recognition as part of the German Design Awards, for its recycling showroom in Berlin.
The international jury of the German Design Council, which sponsors the awards, awarded a “Special Mention” to the international environmental services and raw materials supplier for the showroom's outstanding communication design in retail architecture.
The ALBA Group opened the recycling showroom in the Berlin headquarters in 2013. Since then, the modern multimedia room installation is open to visitors from all over the world as well as customers, guests and employees. Touch screen displays, information boards and moving projections are designed to illustrate the entire material cycle experience.
The centerpiece of the showroom is a 180-inch video wall, designed to impart the feeling of standing in the middle of a recycling plant in front of an impressive screen drum, ALBA says.
Inna Tereschenko, senior marketing manager with ALBA Group, observes, “The concept of filthy garbage is a thing of the past. Cycle technologies contribute significantly to the sustainability of our cities, industries and companies. This is the change we wanted to make felt with our recycling showroom, and it was only logical that modern recycling technologies translate into modern communication design.”
The German Design Award will be presented on 12 February 2016 as part of a festive gala in Frankfurt. The distinguished award of excellence in product and communication design is presented annually.
The German Design Council was founded in 1953.
