ALBA Group to Attend CMRA Show

The ALBA Group, headquartered in Berlin, has announced plans to take part in the International Recycling Metal Exhibition & Trade Fair being organized by the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association (CMRA). The conference is taking place Nov. 6-9 in Chongqing, China.

The company says that against a backdrop of increasing internationalization, the CMRA fair is an important venue for the ALBA Group.

Noting its growth in the international market, ALBA says the company has started construction on a new export terminal at the Port of Amsterdam it describes as “one of the most important investments in the steel and metal segment of recent years. It should be emphasized that this isn't a scrap metal terminal in the classic sense, but rather a state-of-the-art multifunctional terminal.”

ALBA Group says quantities of more than 200,000 tons can be stored at the terminal and that ships up to a capacity of 50,000 tons will be loaded and unloaded for trade with China and other regions of the world.

The company also says it has strengthened its activities in Southeast Europe with the purchase of Reukema Balkan SRL, which improves the company’s presence in the Balkans area, especially in regard to Turkey.

Rob Nansink, ALBA SE’s executive director for trading, says, “We must prepare for the future and become less reliant on the European steel market. Therefore, the growth markets in Asia, Turkey, and maybe the United States should play an important role.”
