ALBA SE, Cologne, Germany, a subsidiary of international waste management and recycling specialist ALBA Group, has sold its Europe Metals B.V business. The divestment will be official 31 January 2017. The company has about 30 employees.
Europe Metals B.V., has one location in Heeze, Netherlands. The facility has been in operation since 1990. The site has a 1,000-short-ton Leimbach shear, a baler and four 40-foot loading docks. The company also has a trading office in Hong Kong.
EM's business consists of processing and trading nonferrous metals. Its main products comprise brass, copper cable, Birch/Cliff, aluminum, insulated copper wire and electrical motors.
The company mainly sources its products from different countries within Europe (Netherlands, Germany, Spain, France and Belgium) and exports it mainly to the Far East, in particular to China.
A spokesman for ALBA says that as part of the agreement it will not provide either the name of the buyer or any other details on the sale.
Along with the divestment of Europe Metals B.V., ALBA announced that Rob Nansink has resigned both his position as managing director and as a member of the company’s administrative board, effective 31 December 2016.
“We thank him for his many years of successful work and we wish him all the very best for the future,” says Dr. Axel Schweitzer, chairman of ALBA SE’s board.
ALBA adds that Carla Eysel, ALBA Group’s head of business development and organisation, has been appointed managing director, effective 1 January 2017. ALBA also will seek to add her to the company’s board.
ALBA SE is a subsidiary of the recycling services provider and raw material supplier ALBA Group. With its two brands – ALBA and Interseroh – and a total of about 7,500 employees ALBA Group operates within Germany, Europe and Asia. The company estimates that it collected for recycling about 52 million tonnes of material in 2015.
