ALBA Subsidiary Acquiring German Waste Management Firm

Deal will strengthen company's operations in Germany.

ALBA GmbH, a subsidiary of ALBA Berlin AG is acquiring Mildena Gmbh, a subsidiary of the German firm Remondis Mildena GmbH. Mildena is based in Kalbe Altmark Salzwedel, Germany.

Mildena GmbH is a waste management company that focuses on the collection of packaging and glass, as well as marketing of various grades of recovered paper, as well as handling, transporting and processing industrial waste.
Simultaneously, ALBA also announced another acquisition -- Uckermark Ltd., which is a subsidiary of Prenzlau Remondis Ost GmbH. The company services , in which around 15 employees, with the associated system and commercial customers in Uckermark, Germany. Thus, beginning January, 2010, ALBA will be handling the processing, recycling and disposal of glass and packaging materials for the region.

Hermann Holstein, one of ALBA AG’s board members, noted that the acquisitions will strengthen the company’s activities in the states of Saxony-Anhalt and Brandenburg, and to expand ALBA’s presence in these regions. "This will also benefit the residents of the affected counties from our years of expertise disposal,” Holstein added.
