To celebrate America Recycles Day Nov. 15, the City of Alameda's Public Works Department and Alameda County Industries (ACI) are promoting the recycling of cell phpnes, pagers and personal digital assistants (PDAs).
Recycle for Breast Cancer (RFBC) will provide containers to collect cell phones, pages and PDAs. For every item recycled through the program, a domantion will be made to the Breast Cancer Foundation.
Program Manager Lary Behrens says, "This program has two great benefits -- we are raising money to fight breast cancer while providing a much needed recycling service to the community."
The City of Alameda and ACI will accept donations of cellular phones, pagers and PDAs from local residents beginning Monday, Nov. 15, through Friday, Nov. 19. Donors bear sole responsibility for remocing or securing any confidential information.
Collection containers will be available at:
- Alameda City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Ave., second floor entryway
- Alameda City Hall West, Public Works Dept., 950 West Mall Square, Room 180
- Alameda County Industries, 2307 Blanding Ave., Suite B
- City of Alameda Main Library, 2200A Central Ave.
