The Lowndes County (Alabama) Commission has delayed a vote on a proposed construction and demolition debris landfill project, according to a report in the Montgomery Advertiser (Montgomery, Ala.).
Commissioners want more time to weigh the pros and cons of the proposed project from Alabama River Partners LLC, which includes a C&D debris landfill, sand and gravel mining operation and an inland port.
Proponents of the project believe the landfill could bring more jobs to the area, while opponents have voiced concerns about possible pollution.
