Al-jon Expanding

Company purchases land from city of Ottumwa, Iowa for expansion of manufacturing operations.

Al-jon announced plans to its manufacturing operations. According to local press reports the company will be expanding its plant in Ottumwa, Iowa., after the City Council approved the sale of land at Ottumwa Industrial Airport to the company.

In the next 18 months Al-jon, Inc. will add 30,000 square feet of manufacturing space and add new jobs to its payroll.

The expansion is a result of the company trying to keep up with current customer demand.

"It's been a little bit frustrating not having some of the space and farming out some of the work that we could be doing right here in Ottumwa.  It's something we needed to do for the last three years, and I'm happy we're able to do it now," said Leif Stokes, plant manager.

"We've had a long steady relationship working with the city to achieve our growth needs out there. We're going through a number of expansions in Ottumwa and have every intension on staying here," said Kendig Kneen, president of Al-jon. KTVO
