Al-Jon veteran staff member announces retirement

Ottumwa, Iowa-based Al-Jon has announced that veteran sales manager Curt Spry will be retiring from the equipment making company, which produces balers, shears, auto hulk flatteners, landfill compactors and other equipment for the recycling, demolition and waste sectors.

“After 33 years with Al-Jon, Curt Spry will be stepping down from his role as sales manager, a position he has held since 2005,” states the company, which is a brand of S2 Manufacturing, also based in Ottumwa.

“Curt’s long-standing commitment, industry expertise and dedication to customer relationships have been instrumental in Al-Jon’s success,” states his longtime employer.

The company says that as Spry steps away from day-to-day management responsibilities he will remain involved with the sales team on a limited basis to support the transition.

That transition includes the promotion of Mike Stout to scrap market sales manager at Al-Jon. Stout has been with Al-Jon since 2007 and according to the firm brings extensive product knowledge, strong customer relationships and a deep understanding of customer needs.

Al-Jon says Stout, who on his LinkedIn carries the title regional sales manager, has worked closely with Spry for many years “and is well positioned to continue delivering the high level of service our customers expect.”
