AK Steel has announced to its flat-rolled carbon steel customers that a $157 per ton surcharge will be added to invoices for products shipped, starting next month. AK Steel also advised its electrical steel customers that a $50 per ton surcharge will be added to invoices for electrical steel products shipped next month.
The surcharges for September are down from the present surcharge of $183 per ton for flat-rolled carbon and $115 per ton for electrical steel.
AK Steel's surcharges are based on reported prices for raw materials and energy used to manufacture the products, with the July 2005 purchase cost used to determine the September 2005 surcharges.
