The Chicago-based American Institute of Steel Construction is accepting no-cost registrations for its Virtual Steel Conference, scheduled for April 21-24.
The organization says, “NASCC: The Virtual Steel Conference” will include more than 50 sessions, some of which had been planned for in-person AISC events, and others designed “to help the AEC (architecture, engineering and construction) community navigate today’s uncertainties.”
“We know this is a difficult time for everyone so we’re offering this virtual conference at no cost to attendees, including providing PDH (professional development hour) credits,” says Scott Melnick, a senior vice president with AISC.
Sessions on the following topics have been planned:
- how structural steel’s unique supply chain and reusable nature makes it the ideal sustainable material;
- opportunities and challenges facing the construction marketplace during the COVID-19 pandemic;
- protecting companies from contract and insurance issues related to COVID-19;
- structural stainless steel and AISC’s upcoming standard;
- conflict management, negotiation, and how to make the most of one’s individual assets as a manager.
The Virtual Steel Conference will incorporate programming that had been planned for NASCC: The Steel Conference, the World Steel Bridge Symposium, Architecture in Steel and the inaugural QualityCon,.
NASCC: The Steel Conference had been scheduled to take place in Atlanta April 22-24. AISC decided in March to cancel the in-person event following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
