The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA), Washington, has released its June 2014 domestic paperboard figures. Total boxboard production increased 1.2 percent when compared with June 2013 and decreased 0.6 percent from May 2014, the figures show.
The association notes that the production of unbleached kraft boxboard increased in June 2014 from the June 2013 and from the prior month. Total solid bleached boxboard and liner production was flat compared withJune 2013 and with May 2014.
Production of recycled boxboard increased compared with June 2013 and decreased when compared with May 2014, the AF&PA adds.
Kraft paper shipments stood at 128,900 tons in June 2014, unchanged from the previous month. Bleached kraft paper shipments dropped from 9,400 tons in May 2014 to 8,400 in June 2014, while unbleached kraft paper shipments improved from 119,500 tons in May to 120,600 tons in June, the association says.
Overall, kraft paper shipments for the first six months of 2014 were 1.4 percent lower than during the same period in 2013 and total moth-end inventories decreased 1.9 percent compared with May 2014.
