The Lowell, Ark., City Council voted in favor of allowing Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies to build a plastics recycling facility within the city. The company had taken over the facility last August, and received approval to operate the plant late last year when the city’s Planning Commission granted AERT an exemption fro the city’s building moratorium, and approved the company’s large-scale development plan. The city engineer approved the company’s plan earlier this month, according to local press reports.
While the city approved the facility, as part of the authorization, the city required AERT to remove a railroad spur that is being built across from the city offices within three years. The spur is one of two that the company would have at its disposal.Latest from Recycling Today
