The 40-page booklet communicates important safety information to owners, operators, services personnel and others involved with the operation and maintenance of compact excavators. The key objective of the manual is to help users develop good safety habits, to promote awareness of potential hazards and to make them better compact excavator equipment operators.
The manual is not a substitute for the manufacturers’ operator manuals. Topics include using the “One-Call First” system, following a safety program, preparing for safe operation, loading and unloading machinery and performing maintenance.
Information in the manual was developed through a combined industry effort by compact excavator manufacturers, specifically members of AEM’s Compact Loader/Compact Excavator Council.
The 5 ½-inch by 8 ½-inch manual is sized for convenient use on the job. It can be used also as a supplemental safety aid in the educational training activities of employers, vocational schools, trade unions, trade organizations, insurance companies and government agencies.
