Advanced Disposal, a Ponte Vedra, Florida-based integrated environmental services company, has opened its seventh compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station. The new station in Macon, Georgia, will fuel 15 of the company’s trucks serving the Macon area. The company says the size of the CNG fleet will increase as it replaces diesel trucks as they are retired.
“Approximately 12 percent of our collection routes [nationwide] run on CNG,” says Advanced Disposal CEO Richard Burke. “We will increase our CNG fleet to 15 percent by the end of 2015. CNG is a cleaner fuel source than diesel, which lowers our company’s carbon footprint while reducing costs of operations.”
The Macon CNG station cost $1.6 million and is the only multi-truck CNG station in the Macon area, according to Advanced Disposal. About 25 percent of Advanced Disposal’s collection routes in the Macon area currently run on CNG.
Advanced Disposal provides non-hazardous solid waste collection, recycling and disposal services to residential, commercial, industrial and construction customers in 18 states and the Bahamas.
