Carl Adkins has joined Cumberland Scrap Processors, a subsidiary of Cohen Brothers Inc., Middletown, Ohio, as Cumberland’s general manager. Adkins has been involved in the scrap and transportation industries for more than 25 years and has a diverse background in scrap processing, purchasing, and truck and rail transportation.
During a 22-year career at the David J. Joseph Co. (DJJ), Adkins held positions in yard management, buying, intra-plant railcar and secondary railcar parts marketing, rail fleet management and ended his career there as vice president of locomotive marketing and sales.
After leaving DJJ, Adkins consulted within the solid waste rail shipping industry and then served as manager of buying for PSC Metals, based in Mayfield Heights, Ohio.
Cumberland Scrap Processors, Nashville, Tenn., specializes in industrial account service in the northern Tennessee and central Kentucky markets. The company is planning to expand its scrap processing capabilities to widen its service network to better support existing and future customers.
Cohen Brothers Inc. has also announced that its Baker Iron subsidiary, based in Lexington, Ky., has purchased the assets of Southern Indiana Recycling Inc. of Seymour, Indiana.
