Ipsco Inc., which owns and operates steel mills, finishing plants and scrap yards at 25 locations in North America, is in discussion with a company about being acquired. According to published reports Russia-based Evraz Group SA, has been in discussions with IPSCO, which is based in Lisle, Ill., about acquiring the company.
The potential deal follows closely on the heels of Evraz’s acquisition of Oregon Steel for more than $2 billion.
In response to market rumors and noting recent appreciation in its stock price, IPSCO confirmed that it is currently in discussions that could lead to a potential acquisition of the company. There can be no assurance that any transaction will occur, or as to the timing, structure or terms of any transaction.
