Mike O’Malley, vice president of sales and marketing for Acme Refining Scrap Iron & Metal Co., Chicago, has received the 2013 Service Recognition Award from the Rauner Family YMCA, located in Chicago. O’Malley was one of two recipients of the award, which recognizes people who demonstrate personal commitment to the YMCA vision, cause and community, according to the organization.
Acme Refining, in business for 40 years, started as a scrap metal and processing company and has expanded its services to paper and old corrugated containers, plastics, demolition, cut-to-length scrap processing, document destruction and recycling. The company’s service area includes regions of Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. Acme’s operations include a nonferrous metal warehouse, five steel processing yards, a document destruction off-site shred facility, three electronics recycling facilities and a mechanics shop and welding facility where Acme manufactures and repairs its own industrial equipment.
