A product developed by Greg Bushong of X-Body Equipment called the Acculoader, targets efficient loading of either 20-foot or 40-foot containers destined for export shipments.
Bushong says that with the Acculoader, a company can reduce the cycle time it takes to fill an intermodal container to less than 30 minutes with one person.

However, with the use of the Acculoader, a team of 1 or 2 people, in a full shift, can load as many as 14 containers. This results into a more profitable endeavor for a scrap metal recycler.
Further, with the Acculoader, Bushong says that a company does not have to weigh the load after each pass. A company can transfer roughly 50,000 pounds of material in two quick, articulated moves. And the inclusion of scales in the loader means that a company can have the container accurate to within 20 pounds. This allows a company to maximize the container’s load. “The more weight we can get on a container, the more profitable it is downstream.”
Also, because the equipment targets the harshest environment, the wearable surfaces are manufactured with AR 400 material.
“With the Acculoader, we can turn an efficient yard into a very efficient yard,” Bushong adds.
Developed for the waste industry by experts with more than 10 years of experience, the Acculoader is a product manufactured by Jewell Manufacturing. The company developed the machine specifically to load Heavy Metal Steel 1 and 2 products. Because it is the smallest footprint available at 48 feet long, it is ideal for space-restrictive yards.
Additional features of the Acculoader include the following: a custom scale system with remote display visible to the operator; sealed greased rollers; a one-year power unit warranty; and a two-year structural warranty.
