Abitibi-Consolidated Inc. concluded the transaction, begun earlier this year, to increase its stake in Pan Asia Paper Co. from 33.3 percent to 50 percent.
Pan Asia Paper is one of the largest newsprint producers in Asia. It has an annual capacity of 1.4 million metric tons of newsprint and groundwood paper. The company operates facilities in China, Thailand and South Korea.
