Las Vegas metals recycling firm receives Green Advocate award from the Las Vegas Business Press.

The Las Vegas-based company AAEQ Manufacturers and Recyclers has received the Best Green Advocate award from the Las Vegas Business Press as part of the newspaper's Green Awards 2010. The awards are given to local businesses with environmentally friendly practices. Nearly 100 businesses and individuals were nominated in eight categories.

AAEQ was honored for its support of the "Don't Trash Nevada" program and for operating an environmentally responsible scrap metal recycling center that removes toxic chemicals from air conditioners and other equipment before recycling, according to the newspaper. AAEQ also participates in Clark County’s lawnmower exchange program that lets consumers swap gasoline-powered mowers for new zero-emission, cordless electric models at a greatly reduced price.

"Today, the public sees us as more than an engine and transmission recycler," says Scott Stolberg, president and CEO of AAEQ. “We're now recognized as a valued partner in their greening efforts."
Earlier this year, AAEQ completed a $5 million capital improvement and expansion project. The investment is the fulfillment of a five-year master plan to transform AAEQ into a full-service automotive salvage and scrap recycling business, according to the company.
"We believe with the completion of our master plan and capital improvements, along with being recognized as green advocates, that AAEQ is poised for even more growth in the future as we lead the 'green' revolution," Stolberg adds.
