Scrap Company Backs Nevada Anti-Dumping Effort

AAEQ applauds state’s effort to counter illegal dumping.

AAEQ Manufacturers and Recyclers, Las Vegas, has endorsed recent initiatives by state and federal officials to curb illegal dumping in the desert.

The Las Vegas metal recycling company says directing potentially dumped material to recycling centers can provide an opportunity for businesses and homeowners to “clean up the environment and make money at the same time.”

A news release from AAEQ points to the “Don’t Trash Nevada” campaign, a new program to help educate the public about the importance of keeping the desert clean, as an effort it endorses.

“With the fast growth of the Las Vegas metro area, we’ve seen an increase in people driving to the desert to illegally dump their junk,” says Scott Stolberg, president and CEO of AAEQ. “We are pleased to support the many efforts by the community to help clean up the desert and to keep it clean.”

Stolberg says individuals and businesses are looking for alternatives as to where to dispose of their excess materials. He adds that many people may not be aware that properly disposing of scrap metal is not only environmentally responsible, it can also be profitable.

“Until our company started buying scrap metal in 2004, there were limited opportunities as to where to take recyclable scrap metal in the Las Vegas metro area,” says Stolberg. “AAEQ’s buyers are paying top dollar for these valuable scrap materials and would like to build long-term relationships with area residents and businesses.”

In addition to buying materials in the metro area, AAEQ has buyers available within a 200-mile radius to purchase materials, notes the company press release.

AAEQ purchases aluminum, brass, cast iron, copper or stainless steel scrap metal, as well as aluminum cans and cardboard. The company will also purchase engines, transmissions, wheels (steel and aluminum) and radiators as well as whole vehicles and construction equipment, whether they run or not.
