Noble Recycling Inc., Boynton Beach, Fla., has obtained certification by the General Administration of the Quality Supervision, Inspection & Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China (AQSIQ), according to a release from the company, placing it among the first set of U.S. companies approved by the Chinese government for the export of scrap goods to China.
“I am very happy with the Chinese government’s decision,” says Joseph Miceli, company president. “I believe with the limited number of companies being accepted right now and the enormous amount of paperwork associated with the certification process, this approval will benefit our company on many levels…our hard work has paid off in this approval.”
Noble's Frank Bentivegna says the process took six months, with the company having received a temporary license number from AQSIQ roughly three weeks ago.
Noble had to submit photos of its processing equipment, employee manuals, building layouts and lists of the materials it processes and those it brokers.
"We expect a lot of business to result from the certification, because a lot of companies have not been able to get approval yet," Bentivegna says. He adds that shipping lines will not book companies that have not received numbers.
The company currently exports 3,800 metric tons of plastic to China per month.
Noble Recycling, a recycler of plastics, metals and paper, is headquartered in Boynton Beach, Fla., and maintains brokerage operations in Kentucky, California and Ohio.
